Random Songs on Ipod pt 1

  1. Ice Prince - Aboki

Very good song from Ice Prince Zamani. not as catchy as Oleku but very good on the ears nonetheless.

Fave Line: I was Ice prince then one shangai, but now they call me that function guy

2.  Souls Of Mischief - 93 'Til Infinity

I first heard this song about 20 years ago and have loved it ever since. Its a travesty Souls of Mischief did not achieve the success I believe they deserve from the music business. Great song especially if you like your hip-hop native tongue style

Fave Line: Greenbacks in stacks, don't even ask
Who got the fat sacks? We can max pumpin' fat tracks

3.  Dr. Victor Olaiya - Baby Mi Da (Baby Jowo) remix ft 2Face Idibia

This song is a classic. A remix of Dr Victor Olaiya's song done over 40 years ago. 2face added a modern twang to the song. It really has street credibilty. It also has a very nice video. To think Victor Olaiya was in his 80s when this song was done is testament to the talent of the man. baba e still dey body!

Fave Line: Laga this laga that (Hen Na so)
Laga yi laga mi (Haha baba, baba e still dey body o)

4. Champion Remix- General Pype ft. Dagrin, Vector, Naeto C, Sasha& GT

This is one of those Nigerian ensemble collabos that really work. Everyone brings some different to the table. General Pype on the chorus bringing in the dancehall ragga, Dagrin with the indigenous rap, Naeto C and Vector on the hip-hop tip, GT on the soul and RnB and Sasha bringing the female rap dimension. A really good joint. RIP DaGrin

Fave Line: Now I stand like Kanu Nwankwo in '96

5.  Deep Cover  - Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg

This song introduced Snoop Dogg to the world and he hasn't looked back since. This is real west coast hip hop. A classic and one of the top 100 rap songs of all time

Fave Line: Creep with me as I crawl through the hood, Maniac, lunatic, call 'em Snoop Eastwood

6. Peacock's Guitar Band - Eddie Quansa

Most Nigerians will remember this song as the theme tune to the TV play "The New Masquerade" popularly called Zebrudaya. All you get in the theme tune is just snippets but the full song is really a classic. Sounds like a ditty to Aba and its merchants in the 70's but if you look past the language barrier and all the praise singing its really an evergreen song that has stood the test of time

Fave Line: Aba ma ndi Aba

7.  Craig Mack feat. Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J, Rampage, Busta Rhymes - Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)

Here comes the brand new Flava in ya ear! Banging track from Craig Mack his best joint to date. this remix has it all and the delivery from Biggie and LL were just first class. Busta Rhymes was also very good in it. How Craig Mack didn't go to the next level really baffles me. The beats on this are very good as well. Produced by Easy Mo Bee

Fave Line: You're mad cause my style you're admiring. Don't be mad, UPS is hiring

8. Phyno Ft. Olamide  - Ghost Mode

Yoruba rap meets Igbo rap. Two of the best in the rap game combine to produce this slamming track

Fave Line: Ghost Mode, you no dey see me

9. Janet Jackson - Got Til It's Gone

One of the best songs from Janet Jackson. Qtip was also very good in this. Nice video as well

Fave Line: You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone

10. Slick Rick - Hey Young World

Slick Rick the Ruler, the Grandmaster of the art of storytelling. This is one of the guys that made me fall in love with rap music. He delivers in the story telling style and his early songs are really good. Hey Young World is off the album Great Adventures of Slick Rick. That was his first and best album. And yeah, for those who don't know, he is actually English!

Fave Line: Have you forgotten... who put you on this Earth?
Who brought you up right... and who loved you since your birth?
